i will never apologize for how much i love this movie

majorly missing the point here but i would also do all of that if there was a drug that could make me look like margaret qualley
i love how much time we spend just watching bella explore and experience lisbon - and the ship only a few scenes later - because i feel like films are rarely given that special space to breathe and merely exist these days. a lesser movie (and one with more studio interference) would’ve cut those scenes out because they “don’t explicitly move the plot forward” to give it a “tighter edit” and “faster pacing.” but when you leave scenes like these…

Still not sure that this deserves a Best Picture nomination, but… it does get better with each subsequent viewing, and I will never tire of seeing it with a packed audience. I’ll it a lot of my initial emotions were fueled by my cynicism about what the film represents vs. what it actually is, and when I let that go, I have an absolute blast. Still really hard to reconcile with the death of any theatrical release that isn’t a superhero film, but that’s not Spider-Man’s fault!
And, Andrew Garfield MVP. Always and forever.

watched this with my mom for her first time last night and she was accidentally under the assumption that timmy was not only nominated for the oscar but also won so having to break the news to her immediately after she watched That Ending is one of the hardest things i’ve ever done
