MAY I FIND THIS KIND OF LOVE IN THE FUCKING FUTURE AND TELL MY FUTURE PARTNER THAT INFAMOUS LINE: "KISS ME MY GIRL BEFORE I'M SICK" THEN LOVE HER MORE THAN EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD
how did paul thomas anderson understand everything about the human condition at 28
Tried to rewatch it, understood it less, felt like I was able to simulate being stoned and having the best time of my life without ever having smoked a t.
I absolutely loved how much of a trip this was and how quirky, gritty and sadistic everything about it was from its acting to its snappy yet emotionally devastating dialogue or really the way the character set pieces were put together like someone puffed a cigar and switched the pages around with each other whilst maintaining the narrative cohesion for this to be a film. If Philip Seymour Hoffman told me I was “the bravest boy he had ever met”, I would probably a cult too.
We really need more movies filmed on 70mm, even the most simple shots feel like a piece of art.
Was just informed that this lost best picture to No County For Old Men. To say this infuriates me is an understatement.
