Dear Santa

He’s making a list… and accidentally summoning Satan.

Dear Santa may have started as just another holiday flick, but boy, does it sleigh once it gets going! Robert Timothy Smith, the 6th-grade dynamo at the film's heart, is an absolute revelation. This kid’s charisma could power a thousand twinkle lights, and he outshines every other holiday movie lead this season (looking at you, Red One). Add Jack Black as a gleefully chaotic Satan who can’t quite grasp the whole “Christmas spirit” thing, and you’ve got a hilariously offbeat recipe for holiday cheer.

Sure, the movie’s predictable—because, let’s face it, who didn’t see Satan getting an emotional makeover? But there’s a charm in its earnestness, and the sweet, character-driven story gives the film its beating (albeit slightly singed) heart. Jack Black’s over-the-top antics make every scene he’s in feel like a Christmas miracle, and you can tell he’s having the time of his life.

Yes, the ending stumbles a bit (wait, what lesson are we taking away again?), but by then, you’re too enchanted by Liam’s antics and Satan’s, um, “journey” to care. It’s not perfect, but it’s a little goofy, a little heartfelt, and definitely worth a spot on your holiday watchlist.
