Gravity

2013

½

What a disappointment. I've never had more anxiety watching a film. Sandra Bullock's stupidity was worse than that of a teen girl running from a killer in a horror movie.

I was amazed to see this film win so many Oscars. Sure, it should've won best visual effects, but why the others? I felt that the acting was meh, the story and writing were boring, and the directing was too dizzying (but it was a unique way to direct this film.)

I don't want to compare this film to 2001: A Space Odyssey, but I will for this review. 2001 was nominated for 4 Academy Awards (not for best Picture!) back in 1969. It only won 1 for Best Visual Effects. Gravity was nominated for 10 and won 7.

How can a boring film about Sandra Bullock floating in space for an hour an half can garner more awards and reception than Kubrick's thought provoking epic, I haven't a clue.
