I don’t think I’ve ever been as bored as I was watching this. It has the emotional depth of a naan bread, and was never close to making me smile, or laugh, or feel anything outside of boredom. Shite.

Don’t care. I loved it.

This is exactly what I wanted from any potential Joker sequel. Something so unfathomably different from the first that it feels separate. I don’t mind that Joker as we saw in the original isn’t really in this movie. It’s a movie about consequences, about media frenzy (ironically), about (however twisted) love, and about reaction, not about the Joker.

Some things I loved, some things I hated.

It was clearly all a dream. No one has slick backed hair like that.

Is it better than Kapadia’s documentary? Who cares. It offers a different perspective with a solid cast and i’m more than alright with that.

I’m not much of a sociologist. So as subtly-deprived as Origin may be, it presents its themes clearly and with style. I enjoyed 99% of it, but the last shot where a murder victim appears like fucking yoda’s force ghost was distasteful in my opinion. Outside of that, it’s well structured, beautifully shot, with a really solid cast.

Expressionism, Willem Dafoe, Kammespiel, goat men? Yes please.
