Captain America: Brave New World

2025

★★

Okay, so let’s just… alright, what the hell? How has a movie under the Marvel AND Disney moniker fallen so hard. With talent like Harrison Ford on screen, I was sure I would gain something from this. Guess what, this is a sloppy pile of shit that somehow managed to make it to the big screen. There are so many issues with this bullshit, I don’t even know where to begin. ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ (2025) is a sinful, bastardized version of a film that could have been somewhat decent. I’m still in shock at how dejected I feel from this.

So let’s tackle a few of the biggest issues. Number one; what in the actual hell was this movie saying? I know not every superhero movie has to make an attempt to give social commentary, but genuinely, what was this going? Are we arguing about drone programs? Or is this supposed to be about government oversight in the most positive of ways? I can’t actually phantom what silly message a movie that is so tone deaf is trying to say. Maybe if I was a brain damage victim I would be able to understand and appreciate what in the world is trying to be said here.

One of the filthiest things about ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ (2025) is the usage of CGI. I’m not saying anything that hasn’t been said before, but honestly, what in the actually hell was this? There are moments of this film, especially in the ladder half, that would have looked bad back in 1999, and they look even worse when compared to today’s films. Every bit of animation just looks sloppy and crude. The Red Hulk looks like a Wallace and Grommet character while the action sequences seemingly look like they were cut from ‘The Lawnmower Man’ (1992). Truly disgusting on all s.

Why is this horseshit trying to connect to one of the least popular Marvel films that is almost twenty years old? ‘The Incredible Hulk’ (2008) holds a special place in my heart, but I can also understand everyone’s distain for the film. So why would anyone want to see a continuation of that story? We get to see storylines conclude that no one actually re, and the connections don’t even make sense half the time. I found this to be wildly uninteresting and for whatever reason the choice for this movie to be connected to ‘The Incredible Hulk’ (2008), I assure you, I don’t know.

Why did Harrison Ford do this role? He’s better than this. Of course I’m sure the money was good, and the time didn’t take too long, but why would he sully the ladder half of his career with such schlock? His performance is really the only redemption this movie has, and I will it it’s nice to see Harrison Ford on the big screen. However, when he’s paired with Anthony Mackie, little allowance for characterization is allowed. Ford could have done so much more with his final films, unfortunately, we got this.

I think this could very well be one of the final nails in Marvels coffin. Of course we are expected to get some more movies from them that could be a lot of fun, but isn’t it too late? ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ (2025) more or less exposes where Marvel is failing. Unenthusiastic, lazy, boring, and all around lackluster. These franchise films lose so much soul with time, and a character like Captain America is supposed to hold it all up. What a mess, and this is truly the definition of driving a franchise into the ground. I hope they put this film series to rest.

I am still so mind blown at how a movie with such a shit filled production could get made. I suppose a thousand or so reshoots doesn’t help a film by any means. This whole movie feels as if it was woven together with the intestines of the previous films, but it didn’t take any redeeming qualities. This movie was exhausting to sit through, and I’m sure the full theater I was in thought the exact same thing. God help us if this franchise continues.
