The stunts in these old HK action movies are simply on a whole other level! So many amazing fight scenes and death-defying moments. The plot sometimes feels a bit too rushed, especially during the final act. Then again, I can't say I really enjoy the non-action scenes in this, so I'd rather get to the part where Cynthia Khan delivers some flying kicks than sit through the movie's mostly flat attempts at humor. Some truly stunning and powerful imagery of our relationship with the ocean. Narrated by the legendary Sir Attenborough and accompanied by beautiful choral vocals from Lisa Hannigan. The underwater shots are as expected, majestic. And then comes a trawling ship…

It's terrifying to see how much of the ocean is being destroyed by rampant exploitation, though the end of this movie does its best to offer a small glimpse of optimism that maybe, just maybe, the ocean can recover. It takes them seven movies, but finally, they made a joke about how the International Monetary Fund and the Impossible Mission Force have the same initial.

Compared to the last few films, this one is more dialogue/plot heavy, though it also has plenty of comedic moments to lighten the mood and of course, plenty of Tom Cruise's running and death-defying stunts. Also, I am surprised by how many callbacks and references to the original 1996 film; even the film's climax…
