Totally baller. Some of the most violently badass and exhilaratingly breakneck shit I’ve ever seen. Tons of gore, wickedly creative action choreography, and epic expansions of the Predator lore via a masterful grasp of the animation medium. Shoutout to the ninja section in particular for building an emotional storyline and two full character arcs with only like 5 lines of dialogue—there was no need for that level of depth but they did it anyway while still also giving us some of the dopest sci-fi horror action in recent memory. Hell yeah.
I’m ittedly not a huge anime guy but lemme tell you, there isn’t a doctor or scientist on the planet who could even fathom the number of these Predator: What If? scenarios I would voluntarily watch without stopping to eat, sleep, or pee. Dan Trachtenberg absolutely killed it with Prey and now might be fully cemented as “that mfer” when it comes to giving the Predator fanboys exactly what they’ve been demanding for decades—makes me just that much more pumped for Badlands. If they give us a live action character equivalent to this film’s king Pred wearing a cape made of spinal cords, I may impale my shorts.
