Sometimes a film is one of your favourites even if you've only seen it once, and even if it was a long time ago; The Fly has always been one of those for me. I watched it once, significantly more than a decade ago, but for whatever reason, it's just really stuck with me. Perhaps it struck a chord with me in some meaningful way, or perhaps I just enjoyed it because it was a really fucked up horror film and I was a teenager, but either way, I've always considered it one of my favourite films ever. I've been a bit hesitant to revisit it, in case it's not as good as I , but luckily, it's still one of the best films I've ever seen. It's definitely one of the best body horror films ever made. In fact, I think I like it even more now that I've finally revisited it, and can appreciate it as a film as opposed to just a grossly entertaining spectacle. Cronenberg absolutely killed it.
