A brilliant new entry in the vampire genre, this topped Nosferatu for me with ease — something about the way the film was set up, to really humanise these characters and make it feel like an actual depiction of 1930’s Mississippi… nothing feels shallow even though the pacing whizzes on by when the action starts! Michael B Jordan does an excellent job leading with an incredibly charismatic performance, as well as a brilliant performance from newcomer Miles Caton. Jack O’Connel also plays a brilliant villain — I just have to break my no star rule to give this 5 stars, FLOWERS FOR EVERYONE!!!
Oh sally godkins youuuu are one talented woman. I don’t think I can see her in the same light again. This movie leans in a more gothic direction rather than the more traditional mainstream-meets-art-house approach talk to me had. Found myself gagged at several points. IDC WHAT YALL SAY THEY DID THIS FOR ME!!! It’s not perfect but it was a damn good time!!!!! I don’t want to spoil oomfs but I’ll give it a solid 8 !!!!! This movie was fucking crazy from start to finish, absolutely zero subtlety at all but in a way that’s what made it fun— There was a very kinetic vibe to this movie, everything felt like it was bursting with energy and the sound design was like…….
