Found it genuinely hilarious and distrubing, equal parts surreal and gut punchingly real.

The ~scene~ where Claire delivers that enraged monologue is so unexpected (even the camera struggles to keep up) and RAW. Had to rewind and watch again out of shock.

The opening scenes captured so much promise: idyllic bleach washed poolsides and toxic, terse conversation racketing over family meals. The problem I found was that, despite all that it had to offer, the film was much too fixed in its intentions, without giving the audience spaces to fill.

The images, while at times sparsely beautiful, were too determined to be poetic. The concrete walls and tiny dogs splitting the frame between mother and daughter felt a bit obvious, not revelatory.…
