Advocates for an ethic of care over an ethic of justice (“I don’t need my human rights!!”) in trying to cope with the horrors of the world, simultaneously pushing towards a grand future (Zsa-Zsa) and retreating into the grand dream of the domestic (Liesl). Such a rich and embodied world of decadent, theatrical artifice, replete with so many delightful figurative easter eggs that build the characters into loving and evocative snapshots. Absolutely spectacular—“a real slice of life” as my partner would have it!!!
