I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers

2024

Finally, this film I was in is on Letterboxd!! At long last, I can see my own name in the credits of a Letterboxd page!

(As this is a film I have a speaking role in, I find it improper to give it a rating.)

I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers is, as of now, only really available on ReelShort. Our director, Audrey Deitz, rented a space and screened the film for the cast, crew, friends, and other guests this evening.…

Popeye's Revenge

"You know he's coming when the fog rolls in."

Early on, there's one character that gets whacked in the back of the head by that freaking anchor Popeye carries around in this movie and instead of her head turning into mush, she's able to sit up and crawl away. C'mon, Popeye. You can't just tap 'em! You gotta really smash 'em! Maybe he didn't have his spinach yet?

★★ Watched

"I'm on the planet surface... I've crashed... Please... don't go. Please, don't go."

Weirdly, this low-budget indie sci-fi survival flick seemed to get better as it went along. A lot of that is because the first twenty minutes or so are borderline incomprehensible. The filmmakers open the film with a spaceship battle––à la Star Wars––but it does a very poor job at establishing who the characters are, where they are in relation to each other, what the stakes are, and…

", with great power comes great responsibility."

I have no idea how many times I've watched the original Spider-Man. Twelve? Twenty? Fifty? It's a lot––it has to be. This was the very first DVD I ever owned, and ever since I first unwrapped it that Christmas morning, I've had such a connection to it. It's impossible for me to be objective about this movie, but I try to be as objective as possible in my reviews, so I'll try.

After…

Spider-Man Strikes Back

★★★ 2

"Do I look like the kind of guy that could run up the side of a building?"

Holy mackerel, I don't know if that was a real stunt where they dangled a dude from a helicopter at the end there and got POV footage as he did so, but it sure did look like it! That was almost enough for me to give this a ing grade alone because, wow! Cheap Spider-Man? I think not!

Eh. Except for the rest…
