This was supposed to be a comedy?!
A movie that tries to communicate something interesting but fails catastrophically due to Lena Dunham’s apparent inability to comprehend her own ideas beyond the level of a 13 year old. What bothered me most is that the main character is completely infantilized when it comes to sex even though she clearly comes from a family that is very open about it. She acts like an Amish stereotype or an alien from another planet in a way that makes no sense at all and isn’t funny, just cringe and distasteful. I truly couldn’t tell you what the point of this movie was.
Jon Bernthal and Kristine Froseth are really good, otherwise I don’t think there was a single thing about this I liked. If you want to watch softcore porn with a bad storyline for 86 minutes there are cheaper places to do it.
Condemned to last on my 2022 Ranked
Look I wish I could give an honest review of this but I’m bewitched by Bernthal’s tongue work I can’t really form an opinion. Feel like a Loony Toon cartoon that got hit in the face w a frying pan. Idk movies are magic what do you want from me
lena dunham IS the voice of a generation*
*those of us who want to fuck jon bernthal
freaky and pungent. plausibly horny. dunham understands how quickly things—feelings, sensations—change. i don't know how another needle drop this year could compete with the third act dickslap of "impossible" by shontelle
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
