"It's not the note you play that's the wrong note - it's the note you play afterwards that makes it right or wrong." - Miles Davis

In 2014 I produced and starred in Martin McDonagh's "The Pillowman" as one of the first shows I ever produced with my indie theatre company. It is, in the end, a show about art and pain. About how art can be inspired by pain and help transform that pain into something that makes living…

"You have two guns. You're not sorry, you're in control."

I'm going to think about that line after every execution by a police officer or other abuse of power by those in power in which they follow it up with some impotent apology.

I've seen this film interpreted in any number of ways, and it's almost ambiguous enough in Carpenter's presentation to allow it, but not if you're paying attention to literally any other part of the movie outside the…

Looks like the CG/stop motion spiderverse inspired is here to stay and I’m cool with that. Personally liked the first 2 of the anthology the most. Enjoyed the diversity of Predators and the visual style of the film. Would love more animated companion pieces to major films.

Kinda pissed they did Viking and samurai predator here and robbed us of feature film treatments of two of the coolest post-Prey premises. Like I’d kill for Kurosawa style Predator.

Another win for character actor Jude Law. Timely and powerful. Feels very 70s procedural in all the best ways.

This is my experience seeing Val Kilmer’s “Citizen Twain” live in April of 2013 at the Wyly theater. It was, or was very close to, the last live performance Val gave before the first signs of what would later be revealed as the cancer that took his voice away.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m the biggest Val Kilmer fan out there. I own his entire filmography on DVD. Val Kilmer has been my hero since I was…

I’m the biggest Val Kilmer fan in the whole world and I’m in this for about 2 seconds. I almost cried in the theater over getting to be included in the smallest of ways in the telling of my hero’s story. I jumped out of my seat when I saw myself onscreen. I wish they’d included the whole scene because it’s one of the highlights of my life. As probably the only dork who’s ever seen every film he’s been…
