Chris Duck’s review published on Letterboxd:
“We all peel labels, baby.”
This was a first time viewing for me, and I’m sitting here, completely blown away by three things:
1) Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor’s performances. Ranging from the subtle expression to the grandiose gut punch, they were powerhouses through and through.
2) Mike Nichols’ direction. The edits, the angles, the framing, and the to get those performances from Burton, Taylor, Dennis, and Seagal is solid and stunning.
3) The amount of alcohol they drank! My liver was wincing one the corner after the first hour.
