“We all peel labels, baby.”

This was a first time viewing for me, and I’m sitting here, completely blown away by three things:
1) Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor’s performances. Ranging from the subtle expression to the grandiose gut punch, they were powerhouses through and through.
2) Mike Nichols’ direction. The edits, the angles, the framing, and the to get those performances from Burton, Taylor, Dennis, and Seagal is solid and stunning.
3) The amount of alcohol they drank! My liver was wincing one the corner after the first hour.

A true love letter to the genre of the erotic thriller, We Kill For Love takes you from pulp fiction novels to the modern era with interviews of the stars, writers, and directors of these direct-to-video or later direct-to-cable films of the mid-to-late 1980s to the early 2000s. As a lover of cinematic history behind the scenes, this rivaled any of the “In Search Of _____ “ documentaries and is worth the nearly 3 hour runtime. Solid recommend.

Alternative titles:

- A Boy And His Dog . . . And The Devil
- Not All Dogs Go To Heaven
- Hansel & Gretel Go Grindhouse
- The Blair Ditch Project

I've got a strong feeling this is a late contender to be in my top ten horror films of 2019. Highly recommended!

This is a great lesson in atmospheric horror. Nice, slow building tension with mysterious happenings. Frequent moments of "did you just see that thing move?" and "Behind you, Harry Potter!!" spookiness. I jumped a few times and had goosebumps at least once. I know it was based on a stage play per other people's posts, and I'd love to see it. All in all, an excellent return of Hammer Studios.
