Oof.

First time I’ve ever seen it and whew, I’d say it didn’t age well but a lot of this seems like it should have been terrible even at the time.

A surprisingly deft handling of the challenges of mental illness. It has a couple of weak moments and perhaps resolves too much like your average rom-com, but strong performances from Cooper, Lawrence, and most of the ing cast buoy it above the norm.

I'm not entirely sure it works as a movie, but it certainly is hard to look away. And anybody who thinks it's a rah-rah USA film is not watching closely enough.
