Just watched the first 3 episodes of Season 8.
IT WAS GREAT!!!
The first episode, the Matrix one is why I love Rick and Morty.
It must be Friday the 13th still somewhere... even if it is just in our hearts.
🔪🔪🔪
This is where Friday the 13th truly levels up. Jason ditches the sack and finally dons the iconic hockey mask. Instantly elevating him to slasher legend status.
The kills get dialed up to 11 (RIP Rick’s eyeball), and the 3D gimmick is so stupid it becomes art. Watching a yo-yo "threaten" the camera is pure cinematic bliss.
I wish I could’ve experienced this madness in full 3D glory in the cinema but I was not born 🙁
Cronenberg is a true auteur. No one else makes films this strange, personal, and unsettling.
The Shrouds is a quiet meditation on grief, and while I can’t say for certain yet, I presume it will stay with me like so much of his work does.
I’ve really been enjoying this later phase of his career, Crimes of the Future especially, and this continues that streak of beautifully weird filmmaking.
If you are not a Cronenberg fan this may be a…
I watched this, the original Friday the 13th after Clown in a Cornfield because I needed to cleanse the palate with a proper slasher.
Full of that Tom Savini magic and Harry Manfredini’s iconic score, this is an absolute classic of the genre.
P.S. I see reviews calling it average and poorly made. Really?! Take a long walk off Crystal Lake’s dock.
