Echo Valley

2025

★★½ Watched

Echo Valley is well made, and bolsters strong performances from Julianne Moore, Sydney Sweeney, and Domhnall Gleeson, but it's a pretty mediocre thriller as a whole. It's engaging enough in the moment, tense in certain spots, and features a pretty good twist around the halfway point, but a lot of it feels overly familiar, a little dull, and the execution is pretty half baked. I appreciate that this explores the unconditional love of a parent, but it tackles it in…

Dangerous Animals

★★★½ Liked Watched

Dangerous Animals uniquely mixes sharks into a serial killer thriller to mostly solid results. Sean Byrne's direction is strong, and he's able to create and maintain a ton of tension throughout. The shark sequences are worth the price of ission alone and are easily the most intense and unnerving moments in the film. The Intern

2015

★★★½ 11

It's predictable, cliched, and it does run to long containing some unnecessary subplots but "The Intern" is still a really sweet and enjoyable film to watch. Robert De Niro is terrific and Anne Hathaway is really good as well and the two of them do share some really good chemistry. The tone also balances drama, comedy and a little romance pretty nicely as well. It's nothing to special, but it's still a irresistibly charming crowd pleaser.

Instant Family

2018

★★★★ Liked Watched

I expected this to be good but I didn't expect it to be great. Sure not every joke works and the film starts off a little rocky, "Instant Family" is still one of the most funny, honest, touching, powerful, and above all else heartwarming films of the year. Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne are perfectly cast while the kids are great as well and you really buy their chemistry. Don't have too much to say about this one but it really is one of the most enjoyable movies of the year and I just appreciated how honest this movie was. Go see this.
