I actively hated this movie the first time. But in the shadow of "The Suicide Squad" and after watching a viral TikTok video about how Cathy Yan kinda did the James Gunn thing for the DCEU first, I gave it another go. That was a good decision: This one is actually quite entertaining -- a PG-13 retrofitted into an R, for sure, but loaded with fun setpieces and good characters. It has a sense of humor about everything too. I still think "The Suicide Squad" is more successful in its corporate-sponsored subversion, but it's hard to hate a movie where Ewan McGregor explodes into a million pieces.
