RIP Val Kilmer, continued…
Hadn’t seen this in over 20 years. Nicest surprise is that Kilmer’s Bruce/Batman is by far the best thing about it. He’s valiantly giving a real performance amidst all the stupidity.
And it really is stupid. But it has some inspired moments, visually (I love the neon street gang). And Nicole Kidman as the horniest criminal psychologist in movie history is… quite something.
But, look, all in all… it’s pretty mediocre. And it has the dubious honor of featuring the only terrible Tommy Lee Jones performance.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I’m tempted to give this three stars cuz it’s so dumb and unhinged.
I’m tempted to give this FOUR stars cuz it’s so dumb and unhinged.
I’ll settle for the middle.
Did I want Ethan and this franchise to become Dom and ‘Fast and the Furious’? Absolutely not.
Is this the best possible executed version of that? I’d say yes - except for one reveal about a particular character’s parentage that is the worst thing in all eight movies.
