really amazing performances that hold it together and an inspired blur needle drop but i found the reveal of harry’s suicide deeply cruel and hopeless in a way that i don’t think andrew haigh intended. the fundamental shortcomings with the writing for harry’s character — how he really never feels like anything more than a device for adam’s development — keep the ending from reaching that devastating but life-affirming catharsis it seems to be aiming for. go ahead, break my heart,…
