Day 1785 of watching at least one film per day - Best Picture winners and nominees ranked (402/614)
Mostly an unpleasant watch due to reasons well-described by Sally Black in her review: overly patronizing, cynical, and disingenuous. Any spark from the Garbo and Douglas romance is underwhelmed by how caricaturized both characters' actions are. Interesting as an early prototype of what would become a staple Hollywood Cold War, and to some extent, also current, representation of the Russian people.
